You are invited to join the League of Women Voters for a special in-person luncheon featuring our distinguished guest speaker, Stacy Ellison, Vice President of Development and Communications for the Delores Barr Weaver Policy Center.

Stacy will provide us with an overview of the Policy Center's work - including their mission, vision, accomplishments and ways to get involved. Conceptualized in 2007, when more girls were being locked up in Jacksonville than in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Tampa combined, the Policy Center officially opened in 2013 to address these alarming incarceration rates and the horrific abuse girls were experiencing while in lock up.

It was in one of those commitment programs that founder, Dr. Lawanda Ravoira, met 14-year old Maria, whose words became the inspirational rallying cry for the Policy Center's Justice for Girls Movement. They continue with the work today to advance the rights of girls and elevate justice reform, gender equity, and system accountability through research based community solutions, and bold policy – all with a girl-centered approach.
Our guest speaker's biography:
Stacy Ellison currently serves as Vice-President of Development and Communications for the Delores Barr Weaver Policy Center where she advances donor support and community awareness through events, community engagement, multimedia communications, and advocacy. Stacy brings more than 20 years of non-profit leadership, communications, fundraising, and event planning expertise to her work.
She has previously served in Director roles with several non-profit organizations and spent more than a decade working as a television news anchor, executive producer, and on camera/voiceover/host talent. Stacy serves on the speaker selection committee and as a speaker coach for TEDxJacksonville and is a member of the Leadership Jacksonville Class of 2024. She was named a 2020 JBJ Woman of Influence.

This is a paid, in-person-only event with limited seating. The cost is $35 per person for both League members and non-members. Tickets are non-refundable.
